As one of the serial events managed by Messe Frankfurt GmbH (branch office Dubai), Light Middle East takes place along side the HomeTech Middle East, ISH Kitchen+Bathroom Gulf, Hardware & Tools and Garden Landscaping & Outdoor Living events. The combined fairs host nearly 500 exhibitors from more than 40 countries covering over 30,000 gross square metres of exhibition space in Dubai World Trade Center.
Dubai's location at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula gives the City trade routes to over 1.5 Billion customers. Products that come through Dubai are often reexported all over the region and Dubai's port facility is the 13th largest in the World. With the increase in population and tourism combined with a current construction boom in the Gulf region, plus the need for repairing the infrastructure of countries in the region such as Iraq; the level of purchase of lighting products is enjoying tremendous growth. In the United Arab Emirates, the purchase of lighting products is likely to exceed US$224 Million in 2005 giving growth of more than 12% over the previous year.
Light Middle East acts as the region's annual trade fair and conference focusing on the sources and applications of light, presenting the region's first dedicated network marketing trade fair and conference for: architectural lighting - corporate lighting ĘC retail lighting ĘC internal and exterior lighting for urban spaces.
Light Middle East also exhibits light applications and solutions to a host of key buyers and specifiers, further promoting design-led solutions for this developing region, as well as a unique platform for exhibitors to network with one another and meet major clients, industry experts, leading lighting designers and architects involved in the delivery of major public and private development projects.
Light Middle East has evolved from Lightstyle Gulf Light and further draws on the experience of its sister exhibitions: Light + Building in Frankfurt; Biel Light + Building in Buenos Aires; The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition; and The Design Annual Frankfurt.

Overview of the Event
Exhibition organiser Messe Frankfurt announced the re-branding of their trade fair for the lighting industry now called "Light Middle East". The event includes an exhibition and conference covering lighting solutions for all sorts of applications including offices, restaurants, shops, homes, public areas and sports applications, both internal and external uses.
The aim with the name change is to more closely replicate the positioning of its sister shows held around the world. These include the highly acclaimed Light & Building in Frankfurt, Biel Light & Building in Buenos Aires, the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition in China and The Design Annual, also in Frankfurt. Adding Dubai to the list of Messe Frankfurt's major lighting events is intended to underline the emphasis that they are placing on the event along with cross promoting the opportunities the region offers around the world to the broader lighting and design industry.
The Middle East is experiencing a massive boom in construction and development projects worth billions of dollars. Gulf countries specifically like the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain have embarked on major construction projects which aim to strengthen and expand their respective tourism industries, financial and sporting ventures which will ultimately reduce their reliability on the oil and gas sectors and ensure a sustainable growth in the next few decades.
Light Middle East is a platform for exhibitors to network with one another, meet major clients and industry experts, leading lighting designers, architects involved in the delivery of major public and private development projects thereby creating an environment for joined up thinking.
Another new dimension is the creation of an exhibitor advisory panel which will be charged with the task to test and further explore this vast market. The Panel will ensure that Light Middle East addresses the needs of the buying groups through the choice and solutions provided by the exhibiting companies through to the needs of clients and specifiers alike.
